The Crookston Pirate Girls Swim team opened the season with a seventh-place finish at the Detroit Lakes Pentathlon meet. Detroit Lakes won the meet with 586, 355 points better than runner-up Park Rapids.
In the Pentathlon meet, all swimmers compete in five events and the total points are tallied at the end for the team score.
Crookston’s Madison Hoiland had a solid season-opening performance with a seventh-place finish in the 50 Breaststroke, 16th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, 24th place in the Backstroke, a 28th place finish in the 50-yard Butterfly and a 30th place finish in the 100 Yard IM.
The rest of the Pirates weren’t able to crack a top 50 finish. We haven’t been able to reach Coach Marley Melbye. When we do, we will pass along comments.
