The Crookston Pirate Girl’s and Boy’s Track & Field teams competed on Friday in the East Grand Forks Invite at the University of North Dakota Fritz Pollard Athletic Center. The Crookston girls took 6th place out of 13 teams with 42 total points while the Pirate boys took 13th place out of 13 teams with 14 points. The girl’s division was won by Thief River Falls who racked up 108.5 points, and the boy’s division was won by host East Grand Forks with an impressive 161 points which was double the 2nd place finisher Thief River Falls who had 80 points.
GIRLS –
The Pirate girl’s team was able to take 6th place thanks to strong performances from juniors Isabelle Smith and Halle Winjum. Smith picked up a 2nd place finish in the 60M Hurdles with a time of 10.96 which was a PR. She also had 5th place finishes in the High Jump, and 300M Hurdles, giving the Pirates a total of 16 points. Winjum had 2nd place finishes in the Long Jump and Pole Vault to gain 16 more points for the Pirates. Her Long Jump of 14-11.50 was a PR.
Also gaining points for Crookston was the 4X200 Relay team of Chloe Boll, Grace Boll, ZiiZii Sam, and Emma Gunderson who took 5th place with a time of 12:38.04. Maddie Harbott finished 6th place in the 3000 Meters with a time of 16:49.72, and Libby Salentine took home a 7th place finish in Shotput.
BOYS –
The Pirate Boy’s team had a skeleton crew with multiple guys unable to compete today. A bright spot on the day was Makoti Weber who took 2nd place in the Pole Vault with a result of 8-00.00.
Weber was also a part of the 4X800 Relay team that placed 4th and gained 5 points for Crookston. Other members of the relay were Jayden Mulvey, Kehnan Hansen, and Thor Harbott and the groups time was 10:12.30. Harbott also had another strong meet as the senior took 6th place in one of his main events, the 3000 Meters, with a time of 10:47.78 which was a PR.
