The Crookston Pirate Softball team lost the #4 ranked Badger/Greenbush-Middle River Gators 21-3, lost to the Blackduck Drakes 14-0, then beat the Grafton Spoilers 18-5 at the Badger/Greenbush-Middle River tournamnet in Greenbush.
FIRST INNING-
Crookston had a good start to the game as Emily Bowman and Madi Bruggeman walked. Emily Bowman scored on a wild pitch. With two outs, Rilynn Aubol walked and Shyuh Burnette singled to score a run and the Pirates led 2-0.
In the bottom of the inning, BGMR answered with a walk and a single to score a run. After a fly out, the Gators singled and knocked in another run on a fly out to tie the game at 2-2.
SECOND INNING-
Crookston regained the lead in the second inning when Bowman singled, and stole second and third base before scoring on a Bruggeman single for a 3-2 lead.
BGMR broke the game open in the bottom of the inning with two walks and a hit batter to load the bases. After an out, a walk scored a run. The Gators followed with two more singles for a 6-3 lead. Crookston walked two more Gators and then a double and a single gave BGMR a 11-3 lead. The next Gator was hit by a pitch before Emily Bowman came into pitch. The first Gator drew a walk before a single for a 12-3 lead. After an out, the Gators had back-to-back doubles to build a 16-3 lead.
THIRD INNING –
Crookston didn’t score in the third inning after the Pirates committed two outs on the base paths.
The Gators kept adding runs in the bottom of the inning. Three doubles gave BGMR an 18-3 lead. After a walk and three singles, and two more walks, the Gators took a 21-3 lead.
FOURTH INNING-
Crookston had a great start to the fourth inning with a Brylee Darco walk and back-to-back singles from Bowman and Leia Parkin to load the bases. After a pickoff and a strikeout and a ground out, the game was over as BGMR won 21-3.
Crookston drops to 0-1 on the year and will take on Blackduck in the second game.

Game 2 – vs Blackduck
Crookston’s struggles continued in the second game as the Blackduck Drakes cruised to a 14-0 victory in the second game of the day.
FIRST INNING-
Blackduck started the game off by drawing two walks. Crookston recorded the first out of the inning on a fielder’s choice. The next batter walked before the next Drake was hit by a pitch to score the first run of the game. A single scored two runs before a ground out knocked in another run for a 4-0 lead. The next Blackduck batter singled for a 5-0 lead.
Crookston’s Bowman singled to right field before the next two batters were retired. Bowman was caught trying to steal third base and the inning was over with Blackduck leading 5-0.
SECOND INNING-
Blackduck continued their offensive onslaught with a single and a double for a 6-0 lead. After a flyout, they doubled to score another run. The next batter reached on a fielder’s choice before a walk and a flyout to retire the Drakes.
With one out, Kambelle Freije was hit by a pitch before the next two batters were retired.
THIRD INNING –
Blackduck added some more runs with a walk and after two fly outs, they drew another walk and had a single to score two runs for a 9-0 lead. After another walk, they followed with a single for a 10-0 lead.
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion in the bottom of the inning.
FOURTH INNING-
Blackduck’s leadoff batter grounded out before they recorded three singles to take an 11-0 lead. A ground out scored another run. Blackduck singled and added another run for a 13-0 lead.
Crookston’s Parkin led off the bottom of the inning with a walk and after a strikeout, Madi Bruggeman doubled, but the next two batters were retired.
FIFTH INNING-
The first two Blackduck batters were retired before three straight singles for a 14-0 lead.
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion and Blackduck won the game 14-0.

Game 3 –
FIRST INNING-
Grafton started the game with a ground out to the pitcher. After a walk and a ground out, the next batter walked. A single scored two runs for a 2-0 lead.
Crookston got things going in the bottom of the inning when Emily Bowman doubled and after an out, Madi Bruggeman singled to score a run and Kambelle Freije singled to score a run. Emma ? and Shyuh Burnette walked. After a ground out, Brylee Darco singled to score a run. Ally singled to score another run and Bowman doubled again to knock in two more runs for a 6-2 lead.
SECOND INNING-
Grafton took advantage of Crookston control problems with four straight walks and two runs scored. The next three batters were retired and Grafton got within a 6-4 deficit.
Crookston answered with a pair of singles from Madi Bruggeman and Kambelle Freije. After an out, Burnette singled and Leia Parkin reached on an error. Darco walked and Ally Wagner singled. Bowman reached and Rilynn Aubol singled. The Pirates kept going with a Bruggeman walk and a Emma singled in some more runs for a total of eight runs in the inning for a 14-4 lead.
THIRD INNING –
Grafton started the inning with two singles. The next two batters struck out and after a walk loaded the bases, the next batter struck out and the Spoiler threat was over.
Crookston’s Parkin led off the bottom of the inning with a single, Darco reached and Ally doubled to score a run. Bowman singled to score a run, Aubol walked and Bruggeman singled to score a run for a 17-4 lead.
FOURTH INNING-
The Grafton lead off batter walked and the next batter struck out. Grafton scored a run on a passed ball. The next Spoiler batter doubled before a strikeout and the next batter popped out.
With one out, Crookston’s Parkin doubled and scored on a Darco single. The inning was over when Crookston hit into a double play to end the inning with a Crookston 18-5 lead.
FIFTH INNING-
Grafton started the fifth inning with a couple of walks The next two batters were retired before the next batter was hit by a pitch to load the bases. The next batter grounded out and Crookston won the game 18-5.
Crookston improves to 1-2 on the year and will take on Fertile-Beltrami on Monday in Fertile.
