PIRATE WRESTLING FALLS TO UNC IN SECTION TOURNEY – COAUETTE WINS 175TH MATCH

The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team had six open weights and that was too many points given up at the start and lost to the #1 seed United North Central Warriors 71-6 in the Section 8A Team Wrestling tournament quarterfinal in Sebeka.

CROOKSTON VS UNITED NORTH CENTRAL –
Crookston knew they were in trouble in the team score with six open weights, which meant they gave up 36 points at the start of the match.

UNC won the next four matches by forfeit and led 36-0. At 145 pounds, Lucas Perala was taken down early, and it looked like he would get loose before his opponent got a pin with 15 seconds left in the first period for a 42-0 lead.

UNC led the dual 47-0.

At 160 pounds, Lukas Helgeson, in his first year of wrestling, took to the mat and battled for a while before an experienced opponent was able to stick Lukas with a nice move for a pin with 20 seconds left in the first period for a 53-0 lead.

Carter started the second period down and scored an escape before another takedown for an 11-0 lead, and with 14 seconds left in the period, he got the pin to get the Pirates trailed 53-6.

UNC won the 189-pound match by pin in 40 seconds and won at 215 pounds by forfeit for a 65-6 lead.
