POLK COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET TUESDAY MORNING

The Polk County Commissioners will meet at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning in the commissioner’s room at the Polk County Government Center.  The consent agenda includes approving auditor warrants, approving a payment of $299.000 for a lost warrant no. 523124 dated March 12, 2019, issued to Kayla Vareberg and approving a payment of $17,252.34 to Card Member Services, St. Louis, Mo for credit card purchases. 

Richard Sanders will present to bids to the board for work on County Highways.  The first for CSAH 61 and CSAH 111 in Fisher, the second is for CSAH 36, CSAH 41 and CSAH 42 around Erskine and Mentor.  He will also present two quotes, one for signs and the second for sweeping city streets in small cities.  The final item presented by Sanders will be a variance from the Minnesota Rules for State Aid Operation to make the parking spaces along the East Shore of Maple Lake to pull-in parking diagonal dimensions not to the back-in dimensions stated in the Rules for State Aid Operation.

Chief Deputy Michael Norland will present a request to post a Clear Typist Cashier III position in the Sheriff’s Office to replace a staff member who will retire on June 3.  The department has also received a Federal Boating Safety Equipment Grant to purchase a new motor for the department’s 20’ Monark patrol boat.  Emergency Manager Jody Beauchane will also be present to ask the board to declare a State of Emergency in Polk County for spring flooding.

Michelle Cote, Director of Property Records, will present a temporary liquor license request from the Knights of Columbus #5341 for May 26, at Maple Lake Pavilion in Mentor for the Johnny Holms Concert. County Administrator Chuck Whiting will ask the board to direct staff to proceed with work needed to secure bond proposals as the county has been asked to issue debt on behalf of the Red Lake, Middle-Snake-Tamarac and Sand Hill Watersheds. He will also ask the board to review the 2020 budget calendar, which the board and staff use to set benchmarks for the progress of the next year’s budget.
