Polk County Sheriff’s Dept. Wraps Up A Good Summer Patrol Season

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is wrapping up their 2017-2018 Boat and Water Safety Program.  The program had a very successful year.  Deputies were busy with patrol, enforcement, boating education, and safety awareness inspections of boats and equipment for rent, lease or hire.  Deputies worked closely with Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Inspectors within the county.  This program has been very beneficial for Polk County lakes and the Sheriff’s Office wants to thank all of the boaters for their assistance properly cleaning and inspecting their boats. The Boat and Water Program is proud to say this is the fourth year with zero crashes on all waters in Polk County.
During the last four years, the Sheriff’s Office added a second personal watercraft.  This personal watercraft was purchased with Federal grant funding and was a welcome addition due to the increase in boating activity on Polk County waters.
“Thank you for a successful and crash free season,” said Polk County Sheriff Barb Erdman.  “Stay warm this winter.  The Sheriff’s Office looks forward to seeing you on the lakes next summer.”

Deputy Derek Cox and Sergeant Scott Bixby
