INMATE AT NWRCC THAT DIED IN FEBRUARY WAS SUICIDE BY HANGING

On Wednesday, February 14, at 9:00 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Northwest Regional Correction Center in Crookston about an unresponsive male inmate, Matthew Bagley, 51 of Lebanon, Tennessee. Bagley was in custody from a DWI out of Norman County.  

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has received the final autopsy results. The autopsy shows that Matthew Bagley’s cause of death is listed as suicide by hanging. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office case is closed.

An internal investigation is being conducted by the Minnesota Department of Corrections, which is standard procedure of any in-custody death.

Crookston Area Ambulance also responded and transported the male to Riverview Health Emergency Room. The male was later pronounced dead at the Hospital.
