Polk County Veterans Benefit Fair to be held March 27 in Crookston

Polk County Veterans Affairs will host the annual Veterans Benefit Fair at the Crookston National Guard Armory (1801 University Avenue) in Crookston on Friday, March 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

There will be many vendors with a wide range of information for Veterans. “Every year we have about 30 vendors coming in,” said Polk County Veterans Affairs Officer Kurt Ellefson. “Each vendor has a different type of benefits for veterans. Anything from nursing homes for veterans, outdoors, you know, fishing and hunting for veterans, education benefits for veterans. Just a list of, you know, just about anything you can think of for veterans.”

Ellefson said they are still taking vendors. “It’s never too late. We can usually find some room. There’s a lot of room in that armory,” said Ellefson. “So just got to give me a call, 218-281-3066, and I’ll get them on the list.”

Veterans, friends, and family of Veterans are invited, and all members of the public are welcome. “It’s open to the public. So I say that there’s probably just a little bit of information out there for everybody,” said Ellefson. “So, just being a veteran advocate or maybe you want to learn about veteran stuff, spouses of veterans, widows of veterans, there’s something for everybody. If you know anyone who might be interested, let them know. The more the merrier. So get them out there.”

There will be lunch and raffles. “We do provide lunch. If you come around 11 o’clock, it’s usually when lunch is served. So it’s a good time to come. Otherwise, come anytime,” said Ellefson. “So we do have some raffles out there. So if you bring some cash, if you’re interested in doing some raffling.”

Some of the vendors are Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Chapter 14 DAV Post-Auxiliary and DAV Transport, Local County Veterans Service Officers, Crookston VFW/American Legion Post and Auxiliary, Minnesota DNR, Fargo Veterans Affairs – Multiple departments, MDVA-Veterans nursing homes and education, North Dakota Job Services, Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, ND/MN Honor Flight, the Regional Vet Center, Options – Interstate Resource Center for Independent Living, UND Veterans Education Services, DEED, Veterans Outdoors Vendors, Polk County Social Services, Polk County Public Health, and many more.

The Veterans Fair will be on Friday, March 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Crookston National Guard Armory.
