POOR ICE CONDITIONS LEAD TO CHANGES IN ICE BUSTER DAZE

The 17th Annual Ice Buster Daze is scheduled for Saturday, February 8 in Crookston.  Unfortunately, the organizers of the event announced on Monday that ice conditions would make it impossible to safely fish on the river explains Brian Ringdahl. “Like every other tournament the ice is terrible, especially on the river,” said Ringdahl.  “Deteriorating ice conditions are causing us to cancel the fishing portion of the tournament.”

The day will still kick off with breakfast at the Masonic Lodge for a free-will offering.  And tickets are still available for the dinner and raffle said, Ringdahl.  “There are still tickets available,” said Ringdahl.  “We’ll have them for sale until they are sold out until up to Saturday but it’s a major safety issue.  The ice on the river is very poor.  It’s a major liability having people fishing on unstable ice, especially on the river.”

The prizes for fishing will be given away around 7:00 p.m., and people must be present to win those.  The regular raffle will also be held Saturday evening and per usual, the regular raffle will not require people to be present to win said Ringdahl. “What’s going to end up happening is everything from 5:30 p.m. on,” said Ringdahl.  “Then about 7:00 p.m. we’ll have our prizes.  We’ll do our fishing raffle first but you must be present to win on that.  The raffle prizes you need not be present.”
