PUBLIC INVITED TO APRIL 25 RIVERVIEW GROUNDBREAKING EVENT

Help celebrate RiverView 2020, RiverView’s hospital and clinic replacement project, by attending the groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, April 25. The public is invited to gather in the Minnesota Room, 323 South Minnesota Street, at 10:00 a.m. to listen to RiverView and community representatives talk about the project before shovels are turned. Refreshments will be served.

Construction on the state-of-the-art facility starts Monday, April 29. All patient services will remain open during construction. The new space will open in the fall of 2020.

This is an exciting time for the RiverView community as years of planning come to fruition. The process of planning the 80,000 square foot facility included focus groups made up of community members and front-line care staff who work with patients on a daily basis. Surveys were completed, mock-up rooms were built, tours of other facilities were taken, and, of course, financial aspects were scrutinized.

RiverView 2020 has a budget not to exceed $51 million. The RiverView Foundation’s Board of Directors has pledged to raise $2 million or more to go toward the project.

The new build will not only enhance the patient experience at RiverView but also allow providers the space they need to deliver great care.

“As rural hospitals across America struggle to recruit physicians, RiverView has succeeded in finding physicians who prefer to practice here,’’ reported RiverView President/CEO Carrie Michalski. “We have a bright and talented team across medical professions, yet many of their workspaces are currently inefficient. The well-designed new space will allow our physicians and medical professionals the tools necessary to provide care for the best outcomes.’’

The building will consist of two floors. The top floor, with a view of the Red Lake River on the east and Castle Park on the west, will house a patient-centered, family-inclusive hospital Inpatient Unit with 18 universal patient rooms, three labor and delivery rooms, and four family suites. Every room will have a private bathroom and a large floor plan to allow caregivers adequate space to provide exceptional patient care and room to ensure family and friends are also comfortable.
