Randi Lee Munson – OBIT

Randi Lee Munson, 68, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her family.

The funeral service will be at 11 am on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Gosen Church, rural McIntosh, MN, with visitation one hour before the service with Pastor Gary Johnson Officiating.

Burial will be at Evanger Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.

On December 13, 1955, Randi Lee Ek, was born to Orville and Winona (Olson) Ek in Minneapolis, MN. She lived with her family in that area for a short time before moving up North near Gary, MN, for some time in 1960, she moved with her family to Thief River Falls, MN, until in 1962, Randi moved back to the Gary, MN, area, where she attended Gary Elementary School. In 1967, she moved with her family east of Twin Valley, MN, and attended high school with the class of 1974. She was confirmed in 1970, near Faith, MN, during her school years. Randi met the love of her life, Trafton Munson, while working at the Twin Valley Nursing Home, Twin Valley, MN. On March 29, 1975, they were united in marriage at Evanger Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN. To this union, five children were born: Chad, Traci, Jenni, and Amy.

They made their home in Fertile, MN, in July of 1978 after the Gary tornado took the life of their daughter, Staci Lyn. She was fortunate enough to stay at home to raise her children. In the later years, she was employed at the Fair Meadow Nursing Home until her health began to decline.

Randi became a grandmother to her firstborn grandson, Tyler, on March 9, 2006. Followed by 6 more grandchildren. She lived for her children and grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies were playing card games and word search puzzles. She also loved cooking, baking, and watching Viking and NDSU football. Her favorite holiday was Christmas.

Randi is survived by her husband, Trafton, of 48 years; one son, Chad Munson of Crookston, MN; three daughters: Traci (Mark) Morinville, Brooks, MN; Jenni Munson, Fertile, MN; Amy (Daniel Geray) Munson, Hawley, MN; grandchildren: Kendra, Alyssa, and Levi Morinville; Erika Razmyslowski, Tyler, Kylee and Easten Geray; 2 brothers: Ronald Ek, Fertile, MN and Robert Ek, Thief River Falls, MN; 3 sisters: Rosalie Ek, Buffalo, MN; Renee Goodin, Ada, MN; and Roxanne Scully, China Grove, NC; 1 aunt: Barbara Delong, Elk River, MN; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and 4 great-great nephews; sister-on-law: Susie Munson, Fertile, MN; brother-in-law: Terry (Judy) Munson, Houston, MN; sister-in-law: Janette Munson, Minneapolis, MN; and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by daughter, Staci Lyn Munson; parents, Orville and Winona Ek’ brother, Roger Ek, sisters-in-law: Linda Ek and Ann Shepherd; brother-in-law, Dale Scully; 2 nephews: Timothy Ek and Anthony Ek; in-laws: Mildred and Andrew Munson; 4 brothers-in-law: Warren, Wayne, Dennis, and Douglas Munson; nephew: Troy Munson, and relatives that have passed before her.

Randi will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her.
