Randy Clifford Beggs – OBIT

Randy Clifford Beggs, 59, of Crookston, MN, passed away Friday December 29, 2023 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Randy was born on July 6, 1964, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Ronald and Mary (Tohey) Beggs. He grew up in the Twin Cities and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis in 1982. In January of 1983 Randy enlisted in the US Air Force and served until his honorable discharge in 1984 at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. During this time, he met his first wife Ellen Mary (White) Wilkens of Crookston, MN. On September 6, 1986 Randy and Ellen were united in marriage and he became Dad to her 3 daughters: Rachel, Dana, and Krystal. While making their home in Crookston Randy began employment with the maintenance department of Riverview Hospital. After pursuing studies in accounting while attending evening classes at the University of Minnesota Crookston Randy began working in Riverview’s business office. In 1988 he accepted a position as an accountant for Polk County Social Services and worked his way up to a Fiscal Supervisor for PCSS.

On May 22, 2020, Randy was united in marriage to Jennifer Leigh Gregg of Crookston. The ceremony took place at Pine Lake and many great memories were made while spending time there. The lake property had repair needs from time to time, so with the help of two of his buddies, the newly formed “Three Stooges Construction Company” would do the necessary carpentering to get the job done (sort of).

In younger years Randy had enjoyed hockey, bowling, playing softball, participating in a dart league, board and card games with friends, and going for motorcycle rides. He had several side jobs that he liked doing over the years including snow blowing for the County and his neighbors, and making “9-pound pizzas” for Pizza Hut. Randy was a master at telling terrible jokes that made everyone groan. He was a proud cat dad too.

Randy became a member of Crookston Eagles Aerie 873 in 1995. He served as President in 2004-05 and was a tireless volunteer for the organization, that included serving burgers and helping with bingo. Additionally, Randy held leadership roles with the Fraternal Order of Eagles MN State Aerie Executive Board and rose to its Presidency in 2020-21. His sudden and unexpected passing has been a terrible loss, not only to his loved ones, but his co-workers at PCSS, the entire Courthouse family, and the community as well.

Randy will be very lovingly and sadly missed by his beloved wife, Jen; the 3 girls and their spouses: Rachel and Charles Davis of Savannah, GA, Dana and Zeb Wolfe of Moorhead, MN, and Krystal and Jon Noyes of Erskine, MN; 11 grandchildren: Dante, Jabree, Caleb, Jacob, Felix, Elvis, Isabella, Owen, Axel, Abel, and Elijah; along with his sister, Stacey Stuckey of High Point, NC; as well as, nieces and nephews, extended family, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen; and parents, Ron and Mary Beggs.

Randy left this Earth in much the same way that he lived; through compassion and caring. He chose to be an organ donor and gave the gift of life to many others.

Blessed be the memory of Randy Clifford Beggs.

The Celebration of Life Service honoring Randy Beggs will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 5, 2024, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Crookston, with The Rev. Michael Ozaki, officiating.
