Randy Newquist – Obit

Randy Allen Newquist, 67, of Crookston, MN, passed away at RiverView Health early Sunday morning, January 22, 2023.

Randy was born in Crookston on April 15, 1955, the oldest of 7 children of the union of Richard and Geraldine (Hansen) Newquist. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at the church his mother grew up in Clearbrook, MN. Randy was raised in Crookston and attended Crookston schools, graduating from Central High School with the Class of 1973. He soon moved to Nederland, CO where he worked at a few places before becoming employed at Eldora Ski Resort in the Rocky Mountains above Boulder. He took care of the water treatment plant for the Resort for over 45 years before retiring in July of 2022 and moving back to Crookston.

Randy loved the solitude and majesty of the Rockies and the many friendships he made while spending most of his life in Colorado. Touring the area and surrounding states on his motorcycle was one of his greatest pleasures. Randy continued to make periodic trips home to see his parents, siblings, and their families, and always enjoyed showing his family around when they came out to see him. He will be dearly missed and remembered with great affection.

Loving family members include his mother, Geraldine Newquist of Crookston, MN; siblings: Tony (Polly) Newquist, Jim (Marti) Newquist, and Dan (Lori) Newquist, all of Crookston, MN, David (Kathy) Newquist of Swea City, IA, Kathy (Tom) Mix of Crookston, and Lisa (Kurtis) Boe of Hatton, ND; nieces and nephews: Ryan, Rachel, Cassie, Dalton, Carrie, Beth, Natasha, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Mikayla, Stacey, Steven, Travis, and Lucas (Elizabeth); and grand-nieces and nephews: Coby, Kaela, Kendra, Liam, Jaden, Cecelia, Emma, Andrina, Ezra, Abel, Diezel, Talon, Arrow, and Freya; and uncles, cousins, and Colorado friends. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Richard; grandparents; and aunts and uncles.
