RBJ’s Restaurant in Crookston will be celebrating 40 years in business with exclusive specials starting Monday, August 9. Last year would’ve been the 40th anniversary, but due to COVID-19, no celebration was held.
The specials next week will be the following-
MONDAY: Sloppy Joe’s with Chips
TUESDAY: Hot Beef Sandwich with Mashed Potatoes
WEDNESDAY: Cheeseburger with Chips
THURSDAY: 2 Chicken Legs with Mashed Potatoes
FRIDAY: Pulled Pork Sandwich with Chips
RBJ’s hours of operation are from 6:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Due to the lack of employees and people willing to work, the restaurant has reduced its hours this year. They will still offer events in the evenings if you call in advance to set them up.
Owner Kim Samuelson said it’s been in the family for years and moved to its current location at 1601 University Avenue back in 1994. “My parents started the restaurant when I was in eighth grade,” said Samuelson. “We all helped, including my brother and me, all of our friends worked there, which was a lot of fun. I took the restaurant over for my dad right before he passed away in 1987.”
Kim said one of her favorite parts of working there over the years has been the ability to serve people from the time they were little until now. She also said she has loved the opportunity to work with family and the same employees over the years.
Kim wanted to make sure everyone knows how thankful she and her husband Eric are for all the support from the community over the last 40 years to make RBJ’s what it is.
