Two popular restaurants in Crookston, RBJ’s Restaurant, and China Moon. Both restaurants are closed due to staff shortages for the next few weeks, and neither closure is related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
RBJ’s Restaurant
RBJ’s has been closed since late last week. Owner Kim Samuelson, who had surgery for a broken hip last week, said they hope to reopen by the end of the month as things settle down. “We’re hoping for the 28th of September, but we’ll have to see how things go,” said Samuelson. “We have no COVID, we just had a few mishaps happen. I broke my hip and it’s going to take a little time to recover from that. We have a couple of other people out with a variety of things and school starting. So, we’re a little shorthanded, and kind of chaotic. It’s just going to take us a little bit of time to get it all worked out.”
Samuelson said while she misses seeing everyone RBJ’s will still honor its prior commitments through their time closed. “We’re on the mend,” said Samuelson. “It just takes time to get it all pulled together. We are still doing our prior commitments. There are things that we need to take care and we feel awful bad not seeing everybody every day. And we hope to get back to normal soon. Stay safe and remember a slip and fall will change it all.”
CHINA MOON
China Moon will be closed beginning tomorrow, September 15. Owner John Lin said his mom, the main chef is out following surgery. “I’m closed from September 15 through October 15,” said Lin. “The main reason I’m closed down is my mom needs surgery. I’m trying to find a decent chef to cook Chinese food. But it’s hard to find at this time, everybody kind of doesn’t want to work. We will be back open next month.”
Lin said he’s planning to complete a few projects while the business is closed. “The remodeling, I will do by myself,” said Lin. “Just changing the floors, change the old equipment in the kitchen. And repair the walk-in cooler. There are quite a few things I need to change.”
