RED LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF CHARGES COUNTY COMMISSIONER WITH NON-SURRENDER OF PUBLIC OFFICE

On July 15, a formal criminal complaint was filed, charging Charles Anthony Flage (67) of Red Lake Falls with the gross misdemeanor crime of Non-surrender of Public Office.  Flage is currently a Commissioner in Red Lake County, representing District #1 and was elected to that office on November 06, 2018 and began serving in January of 2019.

The criminal complaint states that Flage served as a County Commissioner, representing District #4, from January of 2015 through July of 2018.  In September of 2017, he moved to another residence located in District #1 of Red Lake County but continued to serve as a County Commissioner for District #4 for several months.  The allegation is that he exercised the function of a public office when the right thereto had ceased, and he refused to surrender the office.  In the midst of this investigation, Flage resigned from the Red Lake County Board of Commissioners, as the District #4 representative, on July 1, 2018.  Flage will be summonsed to appear in court in Red Lake Falls for his initial appearance on August 17, 2019.
