Throughout the month of July, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of mail and packages being taken out of mailboxes in various locations in the city of Red Lake Falls and the surrounding area. On July 29, a search warrant was obtained and a search was executed on a vehicle that was parked in the city of Thief River Falls. Items related to thefts were recovered from that vehicle and an adult female from Red Lake Falls was arrested and taken to the jail in Crookston. She was booked for felony mail theft.
More details will be released once a formal criminal complaint is filed with the Court. The female will make her initial court appearance in Red Lake Falls on July 31. It appears this suspect acted alone and confidence in residential mail delivery, in and around Red Lake Falls, should be restored. The Thief River Falls Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in this investigation.
