RED LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RESPONDS TO SHOOTING IN OKLEE

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 8, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting outside of a residence on Elm St. in Oklee. Red Lake County law enforcement and the Oklee Ambulance responded to the scene. The victim, Cody Eldene Landrus, was transported from the scene by the Oklee Ambulance.  Landrus had a single gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to Essentia Hospital in Fosston and was then transferred to Fargo, ND where he remains in critical condition. The suspect, Oliver John Berhow (27) of Fertile, was transported from the scene by the Thief River Falls Ambulance and he was taken to the Sanford emergency room in Thief River Falls. He was treated for a head injury and was later released to Red Lake County law enforcement. He was taken to the jail in Crookston and booked for 2nd Degree Assault.  Landrus and Berhow were acquaintances and this case remains under investigation.
