Red Lake County takes down Hillsboro/CV

The Red Lake County Rebel Baseball team scored in every inning and outpaced the Burros of Hillsboro/Central Valley, winning by a score of 13-6 in the first game of the Jim Karn Classic in Crookston.

FIRST INNING-
The Burros looked to start early with a one-out walk from Bryce Miller, but nothing came of it, as Gunnar Halverson induced a flyout, strikeout and groundout to end the frame.
Will Gieseke led off the bottom of the first reaching on an error, and after a balk moved him to second, an RBI single by Halverson made it 1-0 Rebels. Then, with two outs, Brock Seeger delivered with an RBI double the other way, making it 2-0 Rebels as the game moved into the 2nd inning.

SECOND INNING-
After a leadoff groundout, H/CV looked to get some offense rolling. They would get a one-out single by Brayden Chenault, Austin Cotton would reach on an error, and with two outs, Tyson Sundby would walk to load the bases. Then, Tyson Leshuk would double home all three batters, making it 3-2 Burros, but would be thrown out at third by Ben Gullingsrud to end the inning.
The Rebel offense would explode in the bottom of the 2nd inning. After a leadoff groundout, two singles and a walk would load the bases. Halverson would come up next, and would rip a 2-run single, giving the Rebels the lead right back at 4-3. A run would then score on a passed ball to make it 5-3, and then with two outs, Brock Seeger would come up again, and he would come through again, driving in two runs with a double, making it 7-3 as the 2nd inning came to a close.

THIRD INNING –
The Burros looked to respond, now trailing by 4, and they got the bases loaded with two away on a double, a walk and a hit by pitch. However, Halverson was up to the task, and he struck out Austin Cotton to end the inning.
In the home half of the third, Dawson Erickson got things started with a one-out base hit. Then, once again with two outs, Gieseke would drive in another run, and the Rebels would take an 8-3 lead into the 4th.

FOURTH INNING-
The Burros once again found a spark on offense in the 4th inning. After a leadoff strikeout, a single and a double put runners at second and third with one away. Then, an error at third by Brock Knott would bring home two, cutting the lead to 8-5 as the inning came to an end.
In the home half of the 4th, after two quick groundouts Brock Seeger continued his fantastic day, tripling down the right field line. After Owen Chervestad walked, a passed ball would score Seeger, making it 9-5 Rebels. Knott would then ground out to shortstop to end the frame.

FIFTH INNING-
In the 5th, the Burros got back-to-back walks with one away, forcing Rebel head coach Mike Gullingsrud to pull Halverson. Boe Nelson would come in, and after a strikeout, would walk Sundby to load the bases. However, again, the Burros would leave them loaded, as Leshuk would pop out to end the inning.
After Erickson reached on an error and Cain Cardinal moved him over with a sacrifice bunt, Gieseke drove him in with a double, making it 10-5 Rebels. From there, the offense would continue to produce. Ben Gullingsrud would drive in Gieseke with an RBI triple, and would then score on the fourth hit by Seeger, making it 12-5 Rebels. Chervestad would strike out to end the inning.

SIXTH INNING-
The sixth inning started with a strikeout, a walk, and a single put runners on second and first with only one away. However, a strikeout and a popout would quickly end the inning.
Red Lake County would add one more run in the home half of the sixth, as after a walk and an error put Erickson over at 3rd, a wild pitch would score him, making it 13-5 Rebels through 6 innings.

SEVENTH INNING-
Two straight walks would get things started for the Burros, and after the runners moved on a wild pitch, Leshuk grounded out, but drove in a run to make it 13-6 Rebels. The Burros would go down quietly to end the inning, giving the Rebels a 13-6 win.

Red Lake County improves to 10-1 on the season and will play Crookston on Saturday at noon.
