Remona Mae Hoffman – Obit

Remona Mae Hoffman, age 75, of Crookston, MN, passed away on Saturday afternoon, November 27, 2021, in the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, while her family kept vigil during her final days.

Remona was born on February 3, 1946, in Walhalla, ND, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (Bartlette) Goulet.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Saint Boniface Catholic Church and attended Saint Boniface School. After moving to Crookston Remona was employed at Anderson’s Fabrics, and also worked during potato harvest time on the Jorgenson farm, and also for Rodney Cooper and Miles Evenson. Remona was united in marriage to Gene Allen Hoffman in Crookston on May 16, 1980. She served as custodian at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crookston for several years, and for 44 years was custodian, together with Gene, for the Stenshoel Funeral Home until her retirement.

Remona was a devoted wife, grandma, and sister. She welcomed everyone to her home with open arms and a big smile on her face. She was quite excited to become a great-great-grandma this coming February and made sure everyone knew how proud she was. Remona rarely missed a Twins game, WWE Wrestling, or of course her favorite soap operas on television.  She loved playing bingo and going shopping, but most of all she was devoted to Gene, the love of her life for over 41 years.

Remona is survived by Gene; her grandchildren: Crystal (Charles) Edwards, Brandy Thompson, Brian Thompson Jr., Cody Thompson, and Samantha Goulet; and great-grandchildren: Logan, Selena, Melina, Pedro Jr., Augustine, Roman, Malaysia, Marissa, Jameson, Adrian, Andrea, Kamilla, Johnathan, McKenzie, Evan, Emmanuel, Jeremiah, Isabel, Xavier, Kingsley, and Adonis. She also leaves her siblings: Dorothy Schell and Earl “Butch” Goulet of Hope, ND, Donna (Kermit) Gunsolley of Walhalla, ND, Marlin “DoeDoe” Goulet of Crookston, Lloyd (Angie) Goulet of Ogilvie, MN, Gerald (Denise) Goulet and Judy Cook of Walhalla, Rodney (Barbara) Goulet, and Deloris “DeeDee” (Roger) Delage of Crookston; sisters-in-law, Roxanne Goulet of Crookston and Cindy Goulet of Warren, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Remona was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lena Goulet; and siblings, Mearl (Linda) Goulet, Louis Goulet, Deloris (James) Chambers, Audrey Goulet, Andry Goulet, Louise Foster, and Marvin “Chum” Goulet. Blessed be the memory of Remona Mae Hoffman.

Mass of Christian Burial honoring Remona’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN with The Rev. Joe Richards, presiding. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.  The service will be livestreamed by logging on to www.crookstoncathedral.com and clicking on the prompt to view the Mass.
