Dr. Noel Collis of Albany announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives in the Seventh District in September. Last week he spent time in Polk County meeting with Republican constituents. Dr. Collis said he believes it’s time for a non-politician to stand-up for the forgotten men and women of the district. “I am a doctor and I grew up in southern Minnesota,” said Collis. “My dad ran a Mobile gas station. One thing he taught us is this is America, whatever we believe, whatever we think we can become, whatever we think our dreams are, we can become what those dreams aspire too. I became a doctor. I went to the University of Minnesota. I practiced in the seventh district for 30 years and also, I own a business and started a medical device business with friends. So, unlike most politicians, I’ve actually worked for a living. I’ve taken risks. I’ve listened to patients and listened to what is most meaningful to patients and what their inner wishes are. I believe its time that a non-politician stand-up for the forgotten men and women who make this district and this country great.”
Dr. Collis said the main topic he is running on is health care, and it’s time to put the patients back in charge. “Conventional politics has failed us,” said Collis. “One of the things we’re running on is health care. Now, there is other issues and we’ll be glad to address other issues. But it’s very important to realize that health care now in terms of polling is the number one issue both in this district and throughout the country. And it’s the number one issue because of Obamacare. Because Obamacare mandated that everybody buy insurance from a government-sanctioned corporation. That corporation was exempt from anti-kickback statutes. That corporation pockets money and makes profit at the expense of patients. In other words, we see all the time now patients go through this, they can’t get their own medicines, they can’t get their own treatments. The insurance company decides it. It’s like your car insurance saying you can’t drive to Grand Forks because we won’t let you. They’re doing that in health care. That’s wrong, we want to put patients back in charge.”
Insurance Corporations take more money out of the health care system than the amount of the federal deficit according to Dr. Collis, who said he wants to return those resources to patients. “In medicine for years, I stood for the Hippocratic Oath and that is put patients’ best interests first,” said Collis. “We need to do that in public policy. We need to return control back to the patients and back to their doctors. And we need to do what’s right. The amount of money these huge corporations are sucking out of the health care system is larger than the federal deficit. It’s time to take those resources and give those back to patients for their care and their best interest.”
Dr. Collis said he believes it’s time for people who work for a living to have their voices heard. “As I mentioned before I grew up in the gas station and drove bulk truck for my dad,” said Collis. “I’ve very accustomed to the values and have the same values as the good people of this district. It’s time that we stand up for the forgotten men and women of this district that make this district and this country great. And who will take on the politicians and the radicals in the Democratic Party who would change the very nature of this country. Again, I’m not a politician. I believe it’s time for people who work for a living, people who believe in the values of the district, have their voice heard. We’ve had enough of the professional politicians. We’ve had enough of politicians who are bought and paid for by Washington. It’s time the people have their voice heard. I want to be the voice of the forgotten men and women who make this district and this country great.”
