Richard (Dick) Ambuehl – OBIT

Richard (Dick) Ambuehl, 83, Ada, MN, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Benedictine Care Community in Ada.

Richard (Dick) Dean Ambuehl was born on February 19, 1941 to Martin and Alice (Regstad) Ambuehl in Ada, Minnesota; he was their only child.

Dick was raised, lived, and ran the family farm his entire life. He attended school and graduated from Borup High School in 1959. He took over the family farm after his father died of a farm accident when Dick was only 18 years old. He lovingly raised crops, livestock, and a family on this farm until he moved into the Benedictine Care Community in May of 2022.

Dick married the love of his life Arleen Hoven on August 25, 1962. She joined him on the farm where they raised crops, livestock, tomatoes, and children. They both loved farm life and seeing what they could grow. If anyone so much as said they were looking for tomatoes, they would receive a box full or more if they weren’t careful.

Dick and Arleen were married for 62 years where they raised three children: Annette (Larry Aabye) Moorhead, Barbara (Marlo Oistad) Detroit Lakes, and Dean (Stacia) Ambuehl Fargo. They also have six grandchildren: Reed (Yuliia), McKenzie, Zack, Jackson, Brady, and Piper. Dick and Arleen put on many miles traveling to athletic events, church programs, or anything their children and grandchildren were involved in. They loved it all but especially the sporting events.

Dick eventually retired from farming and entrusted his land to the “Tufte Boys”. He enjoyed farming from his recliner or driving out to check on the “boys” to offer advice, needed or not.

Dick and Arleen were avid Bison Fans attending many Bison sporting events throughout the years. Please continue to help him show his Bison Pride by wearing your Green and Gold to his celebration of life.
