Richard “Dick” J. Taallerud – Obit

Richard “Dick” J. Taallerud, 91, Fertile, MN, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his residence in Fertile.

Richard “Dick” John Taallerud was born on October 23, 1930 to Edan and Alma (Rolland) Taallerud in Crookston, MN. He attended Lakeview Country School until the 8th grade, then attended Fertile High School until the 10th grade, when he then took over the family farm after his father died.

Dick farmed until 1955 and then went on to be self-employed working construction. He did such work as working in silo’s, grain elevators, and shingling. Later in life Dick worked for Howard Rholl for 20 years, retiring when he was 62. After retirement, Dick went on the work for Greenview as a custodian.

Dick was a part of the Little Norway Church and conservation club. He enjoyed cutting wood, hunting, and fishing at Buffalo Bay in Canada.

Dick is survived by his sister, Ruth Treichler, Hibbing, MN; and nephew, Stephen Treichler along with his wife (Carole), and their children (David, Jonathan and Calvin), Minneapolis, MN.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Edan and Alma; and brother-in-law, Myron Treichler.

Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, June 10, 2022 at Little Norway Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN, with lunch to follow.

Visitation: One hour before the memorial service at the church.

Inurnment: Little Norway Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
