The application period is now open for the Thomas C. Lenertz Family Healthcare Scholarship and the Roger and Lois Samuelson Family Scholarship, both administered by the RiverView Foundation. Applications are due at the Foundation office by noon on Friday, November 14, 2025.
The Thomas C. Lenertz Family Healthcare Scholarship ($1,000) is open to Crookston and other Minnesota community members within a 30-mile radius of the RiverView Health Hospital. Applicants must be enrolled, or give intention to enroll, in a post-secondary healthcare field of study at a certified post-secondary institution. Priority will be given to applicants pursuing a degree in healthcare management and/or with the intent to serve the RiverView Health primary service area upon completion of education.
As one of the RiverView Foundation’s founders in 1990, Lenertz was instrumental at every stage of the Foundation’s development. As Riverview Healthcare Association CEO, he continued to serve the Foundation as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors until his December 2000 retirement.
The Roger and Lois Samuelson Family Scholarship ($1,500) was established in memory of Lois Samuelson, who passed away in 2021. Her family created the scholarship in honor of Lois’s excellent care as a patient at RiverView Health and as a resident at the Benedictine Living Center.
The scholarship will go to a high school graduate from Crookston, Climax, or Fisher who is enrolled in, or intends to enroll in, a post-secondary program in a healthcare field.
