Katie Morgan thrives off being busy, making her a great EPIC Provider Training Coordinator with RiverView Health’s Information Technology (IT) Department. EPIC (electronic patient information center) is an electronic health records system. For all of her troubleshooting of unexpected glitches, customization of workflows for smoother patient care, and patience in training team members in the latest technology, Katie was recently awarded the Employee of the Month (EOM) honor for September.
It’s been six-and-a-half years since Katie started as a Patient Access representative at RiverView, working in the clinic and Diagnostic Imaging for three years before transferring to her current role. Speaking of staying busy, the Fertile native also coaches Crookston High School volleyball and is the club director for the Crookston Figure Skating Club. When she’s not coaching kids or training EPIC users, she enjoys being outside, lake life with family, any organized sport or activity, and walking in the woods around their farm south of Crookston with her and her husband Connor’s black lab, Daisy.
Weather doesn’t change her love of being outdoors; she enjoys all four seasons, always saying she likes “the next season the best.’’
Of her EOM honor, she shared: “I was so surprised by this award and the wonderful words shared by Caitlyn (Michno, director of Rehab Services). There are so many great employees at RiverView who deserve this award; I would never have thought it would be me! “I work with all departments here and I am supported by each and every one, and I have gotten to truly know and learn from everyone. My team in IT is small but mighty; they are exceptional in trusting me with making decisions, so I know I would not have been able to receive this award without them.
Leadership has created such a great work environment and supports employees’ lives outside of work. I am truly honored to be at RiverView; it is a great place to work!’’
