Roger Joseph Kurpius, 69, Gary, MN passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, peacefully at home.
Roger was born in Ada, MN to Joseph and Genevieve (Brennan) Kurpius. He grew up in Lockhart Township and graduated from Ada High School and furthered his education at the Technical College in Moorhead, MN.
In 1974 he entered the guard and went on to open his own automotive shop in Flom, MN.
On November 26, 1976, he was united in marriage to Karen Kappes in Ada. Roger and Karen made their home in Gary, MN, where they raised four children.
Roger’s true passion was farming. He always looked forward to spring when he could be in the tractor and prepare the land for planting.
Roger’s pastime was deer hunting and taking scenic drives in the country.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Karen; children, Mike (Leslie) Kurpius, Wahpeton, ND, Jana (Lee) Hensrud, Grand Forks, ND, Kristyn (Ryan) Ulve, Albert Lea, MN, and Bob (Katie) Kurpius, Moorhead, MN. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind 3 sisters, Patty (Vernon) Habeck, Ada, MN, Judith (Raymond) Lundberg, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Karen (David) Kirkeby, Thief River Falls, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Genevieve; and one brother, Jerry.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 27, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fertile, MN. Due to COVID 19 concerns please wear a mask when attending the visitation and funeral.
Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.
Burial: St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
