Roger Thibert Roger Thibertof Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating and Deacon John Bruggeman. Burial will be held at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Roger Duane Thibert was born April 27, 1931 in Crookston, MN son of George and Agnes (LaBonte) Thibert. He was raised in Plummer until the age of 10 when the family moved to Red Lake Falls. He attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Lafayette High School, the class of 1949. Roger and his brother Dwight attended GMI (General Motors Institute) in Flint, MI. Roger “RT” returned to Red Lake Falls to work for his father, George at Thibert Chevrolet and Buick.

On September 26, 1953 he was united in marriage to his High School Sweetheart JoAnn Hance at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. To this union 5 children were born; Michelle, Gary, Greg, John and Jim. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls for 10 years, moving in 1964 to Grand View Farm, west of Red Lake Falls. Roger owned and operated Thibert Chevrolet and Buick for 33 years semi retiring in 1988. From that time until now, Roger and JoAnn have spent 31 winters in Arizona and summers back in Red Lake Falls helping the community and the dealership.

Roger was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church singing in the choir. He continued to participate in the church choirs in AZ. Organizations he was involved in include; Knights of Columbus for 60 years, Elks in Crookston and Arizona, and the Moose Lodge in Mesa, AZ for 27 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family on the farm (Grand View) and Timberlane Ski Area. Roger’s hobbies included: square dancing, horseback riding, carving stone, wood and antler sheds.  He had a heart of gold for people in need.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years JoAnn of Red Lake Falls, MN; children Michelle Naplin of Red Lake Falls, MN, Gary (Ramona) Thibert of Red Lake Falls, MN, Greg (Suzanne) Thibert of Glyndon, MN, John (Andrea) Thibert of Red Lake Falls, MN and Jim (Becky) Thibert of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren Kristin (Nick) Knott, Brad (Liz) Naplin, Mathew (Cierra) Thibert, Alyssa (Brian) Nelson, Derek Thibert, Joseph Thibert, Isabelle Thibert, Aaron (Anna) Thibert, Matt (Miguel Stiff) Lindner, Holly (Chad) Pemble, Amber (Dani) Lindner, Kathryn (Yusuf) Agamawi, Christopher Thibert, David Thibert, Michael Thibert; great-grandchildren Logan Dahle, Hunter Naplin, Rylan Knott, Porter Knott, Charles Thibert, Oliver Thibert, Jacksyn Pemble, Cayden Pemble, Kate Pemble; siblings Gerald (Darlene) Thibert of Mentor, MN and Nancy (Harold) LaHaise of Vadnais Heights, MN, sister-in-law Betty Thibert of Red Lake Falls, MN; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents George and Agnes, brothers Vern (Donna) Thibert and Dwight Thibert, son-in-law Mark Naplin.
