Ronald Erickson – Obit

Ronald Norman Erickson, 66, of Crookston, MN passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
Ron was born in Greenbush, MN on December 10, 1951, the son of Norman and Martha (Nelson) Erickson.  The family made their home in Crookston where he attended Crookston schools. Ron was united in marriage to Cindy Walsh and they became the proud parents of two boys, Christopher and Sean. Ron’s working career was spent in the construction field. He worked for various construction companies throughout the area and was well-known for his expertise doing cement work and finishing. He later married Joni Spangler and they were blessed by the births of their children, Justin and Rachel. Ron greatly enjoyed his retirement years spent with his companion and best friend, Dorothy Nelson.
Ron was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, going for walks, bird watching, and gardening. He loved camping, which added to his special interest and knowledge in Minnesota State Parks. Ron was passionate about cooking. He loved watching the cooking shows on television and was always adding new recipes to his collection. Using them to prepare meals for his family, especially during the holidays, was one of his greatest pleasures. Spending time with his loved ones and many friends was so very important to Ron.  He had a heart of gold and will be forever missed by all who were a part of his life.
Ron is survived by his loving companion and friend of 15 years, Dorothy Nelson; his four children: Christopher Erickson of Red Lake Falls, MN; Sean Erickson of Puposky, MN; Justin Erickson and his wife, Kristen, of Nielsville, MN; and Rachel Erickson (Allen Arnold) of Wausau, WI; his prides and joys, grandson, Mason Erickson of Nielsville and granddaughter, Krissa Jacobson of Bemidji; two sisters, Kathlein Price of Bloomington, MN and Katherin (Larry) Nelson of Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Richard Valley of Crookston; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Martha; brothers, Norton and Donald; and sisters, Ione Hylland, Darlene Peterson, and Martha Valley. May God richly bless the memory of Ronald Norman Erickson.
A memorial service honoring the life of Ronald Erickson will be held Monday, June 25, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston with The Rev. Elise Pokel, officiating. Visitation with the family will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date.
