Rosalie LaRae “Rose” Simmons -Obit

Rosalie LaRae “Rose” Simmons, 63, of Crookston, MN, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Sanford on Broadway Hospital in Fargo, ND with family members at her side.

Rose was born in Duluth, MN on January 6, 1959, the daughter of Miland “Bud” and Gilma (Johnson) Simmons. She moved with her parents and brothers to Karlstad, MN where she began her elementary school education. After a brief move to Warren, MN the Simmons family came to Crookston. Over the next several years Rose attended Franklin Elementary School, Highland Middle School, and then Central High School, graduating as a member of the Class of 1977. Through the course of her working career Rose was employed at Nelson Motors, REM Inc where she was honored as ‘Employee of the Year’, and the Car Quest Auto Parts store. Most recently she worked with the Tri-Valley Foster Grandparent Program, a calling she thoroughly enjoyed.

Rose had been a longtime member of the VFW Post 1902 Auxiliary and grew up as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going for walks with her pup, particularly in the Mount St. Benedict wooded area, and loved hearing the birds sing. Rose will be remembered as a good friend to all, always there to give help to anyone in need.

Rose is lovingly survived by her two brothers and 3 sisters-in-law: Richie and Raenelle Simmons of Crookston, MN, Mark and Bonnie Simmons of West Fargo, ND, and Pam Simmons of Mahnomen, MN; a special cousin, Dolly Smith of Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Miland “Bud” and Gilma; stepfather, Jerome “Crow” Boucher; brother, Redgie “Buck” Simmons; brother and sister-in-law, Ricky “Rino” and Audrey Simmons; step-brother, Peter Kuchan Sr.; and nephews, Dusty Simmons and JR Simmons. The family finds great comfort in knowing that Rose has been reunited with her mother who she loved so dearly and missed so much. May God richly bless the memory of Rose Simmons.

Rose’s life will be honored with a memorial service held at 6:00 pm, Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with Celebrant Trey Everett, officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5-6 pm. Graveside prayers will take place at Oakdale Cemetery following a light lunch. The service will be live streamed by going to Rose’s obituary page at www.stenshoelhouske.com and clicking on the prompt to view.
