ROSEAU CRUISES TO A 3 SET VICTORY OVER CROOKSTON VOLLEYBALL

The Roseau Rams started each set on a sizable run and never looked back in all three sets as they cruised to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-14) victory in a Section 8AA matchup played in the Crookston High School gymnasium.

FIRST SET
Crookston scored the first point of the match before Roseau countered with a 6-0 run. Cora Lundbohm, Anya Severson, and Kara Ulvin had a kill apiece in the run for Roseau. Crookston stopped the run with a Kristine Bernd kill and an ace to bring her team within a 6-3 deficit. Roseau added to their lead and had an 11-6 lead when Crookston hit four attacks in a row out of bounds and hit another attack into the net, and the Rams led 16-6. Roseau continued to pull away and won the set 25-12.

SECOND SET
Roseau had another solid start in the second set with a 7-1 run behind five Crookston attack errors, a kill apiece from Lundbohm and Severson. Crookston stopped the run with an Emma LaPlante kill, but Roseau continued to pull away and took a 17-8 lead, forcing a Crookston timeout. Crookston’s attack errors continued, and the Rams had a 23-11 lead when Seversen blasted two kills to give Roseau a 25-11 victory for a 2-0 lead in the match.

THIRD SET
Roseau jumped out to a 4-1 lead to start the third set after several Crookston attack errors.  The Pirates battled back and got within a 5-4 deficit after some Ram attack errors. The teams battled back and forth, and Roseau led 11-9 when they went on an 8-1 run behind kills from Chavelle Knochenmus, Kayla Moser, and Severson. Roseau also had aces from Moser and Jasmine Hovda, and three Crookston attack errors for a 19-10 lead, forcing a Crookston timeout. After the timeout, Roseau was able to get some new players in the match and continued to pull away for a 25-14 victory to win the match 3-0.

Crookston ends the regular season with a 2-20 record and will start the Section 8AA Volleyball playoffs on Wednesday, October 24 (likely at Wadena-Deer Creek). Roseau improves to 11-11 on the year.
