Rudolph “Rudy” Pelzman – Obit

Rudolph “Rudy” Pelzman, age 81, of Ada, Minnesota, passed away of natural causes at his home on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

Rudy was born on May 24, 1941, in Oriska, ND, to Frank and Ida (Barz) Pelzman.

Rudy was the youngest of 9 children, growing up and working on the family farm. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at a church near Oriska, ND. He graduated from Oriska High School in 1959.

Rudy enlisted in the United States Army in October 1959 and obtained an honorable discharge in February of 1962. In 1965 Rudy married Margaret Piatz in Valley City, ND, and together they raised 4 children.

Early in life Rudy worked in car sales in Valley City. In 1974 Rudy and Margaret moved to Ada. Rudy worked for Moxness Motors and then for the local Minnesota Department of Transportation. He was there for over 27 years, retiring from this career.

Rudy enjoyed family gatherings, sporting events, and especially loved time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, and the VFW Post 7557.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Ada, MN; children, Jacob Scofield, Severance, CO, Bernard (Joy), Ada, MN, Brian (Char Kappes), Ada, MN, Shelia Hornbeak, Ada, MN, and Bruce (Annette Cardoni), Crookston, MN; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sister, Rose (Cliff) Gronlund, Sebeka, MN; sister-in-law, Marie Pelzman, Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

Rudy is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ida; granddaughter, Burgundy Pelzman; grandson, Jeff Scofield; sisters, Helen Jacobson, Dorothy Frank, and Mabel Witt; and brothers, John, Frank Jr., Robert, and Ralph.

Funeral: 1:00 PM Friday, September 2, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.
