SACRED HEART BASEBALL BEATS FOSSTON, ADVANCES TO SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP

The Sacred Heart Eagle Baseball team scored five runs with two outs in the first inning, and eighth-grader Nick Satterlund pitched a gem to beat the Fosston Greyhounds 9-2 to advance to the Section 8A Baseball tournament championship on Thursday. 

FIRST INNING
Fosston’s Hudson Boushee reached on an error with one out, but the next two batters were retired.
The first two Sacred Heart batters were retired before Parker Erickson laced a line drive to the right-center field gap for a double. Jake Satterlund singled to score a run for a 1-0 lead. Ben Wharam was hit by a pitch before Nick Satterlund single to score a run. David Larson blasted a line drive over the left fielder’s head for a double that scored two runs. Isaac Sundby ripped a line drive to the right-center field gap for a double, allowing another run to score for a 5-0 lead.

SECOND INNING
Fosston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion. Sacred Heart had two outs with nobody on, and Parker Erickson singled, Jake Satterlund walked, and Wharam was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Nick Satterlund hit a fly ball to the right-center field gap, and the Greyhound right fielder Dwson Baillie made a diving catch to rob the Eagles of an extra-base hit.

THIRD INNING
Fosston’s Luke Sannes walked, and after a pop-out, Ryne Duppong singled before advancing to second base on a wild pitch. Hudson Boushee reached on an error that also allowed a run to score. Aiden Wolfe hit a fly ball to shallow right field and the Eagles’ Isaac Sundby made the catch, but a run scored for Fosston to bring the Greyhounds within a 5-2 deficit.
Sacred Heart answered in the bottom of the inning when Isaac Sundby singled and moved over to second base on a Mike Gapp sacrifice bunt. Elliot Arntson singled to score a run for a 6-2 lead.

FOURTH INNING
The first Fosston batter flew out before Tanner Vig reached on an error. The next batters popped out to third base and struck out.
The first two Sacred Heart batters were retired before Jake Satterlund singled. The next batter struck out.

FIFTH INNING
The first two Fosston batters were retired before Boushee was hit by a pitch, Aiden Wolfe singled, and Will Christen walked to load the bases. The next batter struck out for the third out of the inning.
Sacred Heart added more runs in the bottom of the inning when Nick Satterlund and Larson singled. The next two batters were retired before 

SIXTH INNING
Fosston’s Tanner Vig led off the inning with a double, and after an out, Sannes walked. The next batter hit into a fielder’s choice before a ground out for the third out of the inning.
Sacred Heart’s Wharam reached on an error with one out. The next batter flew out before Larson walked. The next batter stuck out, and Sacred Heart took a 9-2 lead into the seventh inning.

SEVENTH INNING
Fosston’s Boushee singled to start the inning, but the next three batters were retired, and Sacred Heart won the game 9-2.

Sacred Heart improves to 18-3 on the year and will play in the Section 8A Championship on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Jim Karn Field in Crookston against either Fosston, Ada-Borup-West, or Red Lake County.
