The Crookston School Board had a special meeting to Tuesday morning to canvass the election results and accept the final 2018-2019 audit presented by Eide Bailly Accounting Firm. Crookston Public Schools’ audit shows a general fund balance of $4,998,044 and a total balance of $6,030,062. Olson said a lot of things went right in the spring to help those balances. “There were a lot of things that went right for us this last spring,” said Olson. “That helps us from the standpoint of balance for unassigned dollars. We were also able to carry over some LTFM funds that are restricted dollars, about $302,000, that is for like to like projects for internal building work and so forth.”
The School Board also canvassed the 2019 election results in which Mike Theis was elected to the school board and both the district’s operating and school bus referendums passed. With no one coming forward to challenge the results in the seven-day window Olson said the board was able to finalize those results. “We have to allow seven days for anyone that would contest the election and so forth,” said Olson. “Once those seven days are done, then on November 19 the new board member, Mike will be seated. And then his first board meeting will be November 25, our next regularly scheduled school board meeting.”
