SCRUFFY TAILS HUMANE SOCIETY WILL HOST A BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER ON SUNDAY DECEMBER 10

The Scruffy Tails Humane Society in Crookston will have a breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, December 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge located at 112 West Robert Street in Crookston.

Scruffy Tails and the Kiwanis Club have partnered to put the event on. “I began talking to their president and vice president in September,” said Director of the Scruffy Tails Humane Society Ana Gustafson, “Initially, we were looking at doing something possibly in October or November but both of those months turned out to be busy with hunting season and Thanksgiving.”

The breakfast will include waffles, French toast, gluten-free pancakes, sausage, and juice. Admission is free for the event, but free-will donation is encouraged. Scruffy Tails board members will assist in serving the meal, and UMC representatives will also help during the event.

The Kiwanis Club is purchasing the food at a discounted price after the event; Scruffy Tails will reimburse the Kiwanis Club. “We chose to make a free-will donation, and we know the holidays are hard for everybody,” said Gustafson, “We’re hoping by doing this, we are giving people chance who would still like to support us and give what they can. Whether that’s only giving a little or being overly generous.”

The funds raised during the breakfast can be matched from the Masonic Club grant program, where they can check what was collected. All funds raised will go toward the Scruffy Tails shelter, capital improvements to the basement, and new dog kennels.

Gustafson gave one final message to community members to draw people to the event and support a community cause.

“Scruffy Tails and the Masonic Club would like to invite the community to our breakfast,” said Gustafson, “This will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to give everybody a chance to come after church. We hope to see many people there to support our animals and community. We serve many communities locally and throughout the state.”
