BISSELL Pet Foundation is hosting its Empty the Shelters—Holiday Hope reduced-fee adoption event from December 1 to 17. Scruffy Tails Humane Society is on board and ready to help ensure no pet is in the shelter this holiday season.
More than 400 organizations in 45 states are participating. In the past, this effort has helped more than 300,000 pets find loving homes, making Empty the Shelters the largest funded adoption event in the country. During the event, BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors reduced adoption fees so shelters can charge $50 or less to take deserving pets from kennels to the couches in their new homes.
Scruffy Tails Humane Society will participate in Empty the Shelters from December 1-14 and currently has eight dogs and multiple cats up for adoption. By participating, Scruffy Tails will be reimbursed for each pet adopted, which allows families to bring home a fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered pet.
Shelter Manager Erin Wilson encourages people to come out and see the animals, hoping to find them all homes. “Our goal is to try and get all of the animals out; that way, we can get new ones in,” says Wilson. “We do have a lot on our surrender list, and with it being winter, there is a lot for cats, wanting to get cats in off the streets.”
Wilson has provided photos of all animals up for adoption and a short bio on each one. I visited with many of the animals while I was at Scruffy Tails, and I hope that everyone reading this will also take some time to visit. Whether you are looking for a companion for a pet you already have, a companion for yourself, or a family pet, this is the perfect time. Visit Scruffy Tail Humane Society and help Empty the Shelters this holiday.
