Senator Paul Gazelka has accepted the endorsement of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) in his run for Governor of Minnesota. The MPPOA and Gazelka released the following joint statement:
MPPOA Executive Director Brian Peters said, “The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association proudly endorses Paul Gazelka to be our state’s next Governor. He is an extraordinary supporter of first responders and public safety officials and stands against attempts to defund and dismantle the police. He will always promote public safety proposals that keep communities safe. On behalf of the largest public safety association in Minnesota, we are proud to support Paul Gazelka for Governor.”
“I am humbled and honored to receive the endorsement of the MPPOA, the largest association representing licensed peace officers in the State of Minnesota,” said Gazelka. “This endorsement is further acknowledgement of the ongoing work we have done to support our women and men in blue—the people who risk their lives every day for all of us in Minnesota. Thank you to all of the members of the MPPOA for this powerful endorsement.”
The MPPOA is by no means the only organization to recognize Senator Gazelka’s contributions to public safety. In 2021, the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association (MCPA) presented Gazelka with the organization’s bi-partisan Legislator of the Year Award, which recognizes members of the Minnesota House or Senate or the state’s Congressional delegation for their leadership and support on important legislation impacting law enforcement and public safety.
The National Troopers Coalition (NTC), representing over 42,000 members, endorsed Senator Gazelka in September 2021, shortly after he announced his candidacy in the Governor’s race. The Minnesota State Troopers Association does not issue endorsements in political races.
