SEVERE THUNDERSTORM MOVES THROUGH THE AREA WITH HAIL, STRONG WINDS REPORTED

Many thunderstorms moved through northwest Minnesota Sunday afternoon and evening.

Downtown Crookston had a thunderstorm move through before 10:00 p.m. with strong winds and heavy rain for about 20 minutes.  The peak wind gust of 58 mph was reported by the National Weather Service.  The strong wind gusts split a tree in downtown Crookston by the Post Office.  (Pictures  and video below).  Crookston received 1.15 inches of rain at the KROX studios on Sunday.

A quick-moving severe thunderstorm moved through Gentilly and Red Lake Falls during the 3 p.m. hour today.   In Gentilly, we have had two reports of dime size hail.  East and southeast of Crookston had large hail reports (see the pictures below).
