Sharon Lee Bergsgaard – Obit

Sharon Lee Bergsgaard, age 74, passed away on March 4, 2021, in Crookston, MN under the care of her family and Hospice with her loving family by her side.

Sharon was born on December 25, 1946, to Ferdie and Anna Margaret (Sandberg) Anderson in Thief River Falls, MN.  She was baptized at Black River Lutheran Church, St. Hilaire, MN, and was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN.  She graduated in 1964 from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, MN, where she had an interest in music.  Sharon was united in marriage to Lannis Bergsgaard on August 14, 1965, and they had 3 children.  They lived in Velva, ND, Halstad, MN, and moved to Crookston, MN in 1975 where she had been a resident ever since.  She worked at Highland Middle School, MN for four years and then at Farm Credit Services for 26 years as the Human Resources Director.  After retirement, she worked as a travel consultant for 9 years at Fisher’s Landing Welcome Center, Fisher, MN.  Sharon had many interests that included cooking, decorating, playing cards, sewing, quilting, making lefsa, and entertaining. She was also active and showed support in her children and grandchildren’s activities.

Sharon had many friends and relatives that loved her and will miss her dearly.

Sharon is survived by her 3 children, Lisa (Shawn) Cormican, Crookston, MN, Jana Bergsgaard, Santa Barbara, CA, and Jeff Bergsgaard; 2 grandchildren, Mara (Bryce) Berdal, Niagara, ND, and Zach (Lexie) Cormican, Fargo, ND; and great-grandchildren Graham and Tate. She is also survived by her ex-husband, Lannis Bergsgaard, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marlis Furuseth, and brother-in-law Jerry Furuseth.

Thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley for helping in the care of Sharon in the last few months of her life.

A memorial service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, MN, with a time for visitation starting at 10:00 AM.  Pastor Jeff Brown of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN will officiate.  Inurnment will take place at a later date.
