Sherry Lynne Jensrud, 71, of Fertile, MN, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026 at her residence after a two-year battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.
Sherry was born on May 28, 1954 to Clifford and Eileen (Stusrud) Bevolden. She was raised on her parents’ farm south of Fertile along with her four sisters. In her early teens the family moved into Fertile. Sherry graduated from Fertile Beltrami Schools in May of 1972. On July 7, 1972 Sherry was united in marriage to Marlen Jensrud at Concordia Lutheran Church. Making their home in Fertile they raised two children, Gary and Jennifer. Sherry was a nurse’s aide at Fair Meadow Nursing Home from 1975-1985. She opened her own daycare in 1986, caring for hundreds of kids and families for thirty years. In 1997, Sherry and Marlen bought Berg’s Hamburger Stand which they ran together for twenty-five years. In 2016, she began working in the kitchen at Fertile-Beltrami Schools, until her retirement in 2024.
Sherry gave her life to Jesus in the early 1980’s and later publicly confessed her faith in 2015 by being baptized in the Sand Hill River. Sherry loved to talk about Jesus, and the salvation of others was so important to her. She was a prayer warrior for her family and her community. She looked forward to her Thursday Bible Study at Hope Lutheran Church.
Sherry loved baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandkids, tending her flowers, and having coffee and donuts with her sisters. She looked forward to playing bingo with her family at the Polk County Fair each summer. Sherry and Marlen attended countless sporting events, music concerts, and theater performances for their children and grandchildren.
She is survived by Marlen, her best friend and husband of 53 years; her son, Gary (Melissa) Jensrud of Fargo, ND; her daughter, Jennifer (Eric) Dahl of Fertile, MN; and 5 grandchildren, Isaiah Jensrud, Jonas Jensrud, Ava (Garrett Beiswenger) Stene and Ian Stene. Sherry is also survived by her sisters, Sylvia Piche, Elaine (Jim) Bakken, Darlene (Dale) Solie, and Carole Larson; and in-law’s, Diane Severson, Roger Haugen, Pat (Tom) Mjelde, Mark (Arla) Jensrud, Myles (Barb) Jensrud, Joan (Dennis) Johnson, Connie (Gary) Lee, Pam (Dan) Solberg, and Sherri (Clark) Erickson; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Harvey and Donna Jensrud; brother-in-law, Karl Severson; sister-in-law, Kathy Haugen; and nephew, Mark Piche.

Interment: Concordia South Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
