Shirley Foldoe – Obit

Shirley A. Foldoe, 85, of Anoka, MN, passed away on May 14, 2019, at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, MN, with her daughters by her side.

Shirley Ann Geddes was born May 7, 1934, at Ada, the youngest child of Alfred and Olina Bentina (Stuhaug) Geddes. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley, MN. Shirley attended country school before graduating from Twin Valley High School with the class of 1952. She attended Moorhead State (MN) Teachers College and then later she went back and received her degree.

Shirley met Stanley Foldoe while teaching in Fertile, MN, and they were united in marriage on June 30, 1956 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada. They made their home in Anoka and Shirley taught 1st grade within the Centennial School District, retiring a dedicated career after 39 years. Shirley’s true passion was absolutely teaching. For her it was an honor and a privilege to be a part of forming and shaping these young minds.

She loved entertaining family and friends, especially during holidays. She loved to spend time with her family and cherished every moment she got with them. She was known as an excellent cook and her food was always anticipated at family events.  She also seemed to always add a little extra “sparkle” to birthdays and holidays through her unique touch. She really enjoyed a competitive game of cards, Bridge, Pinochle and Three’s.  She loved to win, but never minded losing either.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Kim (Dan) Ness, Ada, MN, Shawn Foldoe, Arden Hills, MN, grandchildren, Dustin (Karen) Ness, Blair (Katie) Ness, Kristina Ness (fiancé` Stephen Hays), great-grandchildren, Elliot Ness, Flynn Ness, and Ferris Shirley Ness, 1 brother-in-law, Anton Olesen, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley in 2012, her brother Bud Geddes, and sisters, Eleanor Cirks and Edith Felske.
