Shirley Inga (Klevgaard) (Self) Finch, 82, Bentonville, AR, formerly of Ada, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village in Bentonville.
Shirley Inga Klevgaard was born to George and Signora (Volness) Klevgaard in Felton, MN on June 19, 1938. She attended Felton Schools. She later received her GED in Moorhead, MN.
On December 17, 1955, she married Orin K. Self in the Borup, MN parsonage. Orin’s Air Force service took them to Oklahoma, France, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Minnesota. They had three children, Brian, Brenda, and Kim. On December 2, 1977, Shirley married Earle M. Finch in Sisseton, SD. They made their home in Fargo and Windsor, ND, and Ada, MN.
Shirley was an avid and extremely skilled seamstress. She was especially good at costumes for herself, family, or kids. She could reupholster any piece of furniture. She loved knitting and crocheting and any kind of needlecraft. She was always up for doing any kind of puzzle, crossword, and jigsaw being her favorites. Cards were a favorite pastime as well whether playing solitaire, pinochle, spades, hearts, cribbage or any other game.
She was preceded in death by both Orin and Earle; her parents; brothers, Ronald and Gerald Klevgaard; sisters, Janice (Warren) Ehrichs, Francis (Don Hatfield) (Vernon) Bittner, and Dianne (Arvin Syverson) (Robert) Bridgewater; one niece, Candace (Hatfield) Rickert; and one nephew, Byron Klevgaard.
She is survived by son, Brian (Jeanine) Self; daughters, Brenda (Joe) Andrews and Kim Moravec all of Bella Vista, AR; granddaughter, Jessica Pinkney (David Hagen) of Moorhead, MN; grandsons, Jason Self of Bella Vista, AR, Dr. Patrick Self (Caroline Muzic) of LaCrosse, WI, Michael (Gabriella) Moravec, Martin (Jessica O’Brien) Moravec, and Donald (Kayla Burby) Moravec of Thornton, CO; sister, Brenda (Arlen) Cummings of Detroit Lakes, MN; sister in law, Kay (Ed) Stevens of Pace, FL; stepdaughter, Debra (David) Facey and her daughter Eva of Two Inlets, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Minnesota.
