Sioux Falls Scores 7 Times to Beat UMC Soccer

The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) women’s soccer team was outshot 16-1 in a 7-0 loss against Augustana in an NSIC match played at Morstad Field in Sioux Falls, SD.
In the first half, Morgan Keirstead (Fr., Savage) wasted little time opening up the scoring, finding the net in the opening minute to give Augustana a 1-0 lead. In the sixth minute, Reiley Klose (Sr., Fargo, ND) set up Grace Behm (Jr., Sioux Falls, SD) for a goal giving the Vikings a 2-0 lead. Augustana’s third goal came in the 36th minute after Rebekah Thoresen sent a pass to Claire Dahm (Jr., Ankeny, IA) giving the hosts a 3-0 lead. That lead became 4-0 in the 43rd minute after Kenzie Geiger (Fr., Ankeny, IA) scored the Vikings’ fourth goal giving Augustana a 4-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Grace Behm scored her second goal of the match in the 59th minute pushing Augustana’s lead to 5-0. The lead became 6-0 in the 77th minute following an assist kicked by Skylar Moen (Fr., Sioux Falls, SD) to Jensen Froehlich (Jr., Sioux City, IA). The Vikings scored their final goal in the 87th minute when Shannon McKnight (Soph., Farmington, MN) fired a shot into the net closing out Augustana’s 7-0 win. Minnesota Crookston’s goalkeeper Olivia Putin (Jr., Rogers) returned to the net for this match and was tested often making nine saves on the sixteen shots sent on goal by the Vikings.
The Golden Eagles fall to 1-12-2 overall and 1-9-2 in NSIC play. Minnesota Crookston returns to the pitch on Sunday when the Golden Eagles travel to Wayne, NE to take on Wayne State at 1 p.m. Augustana improves to 10-3-2 overall and 8-2-1 in conference play.
