SPEECH SEASON ENDS WITH PROULX ADVANCING TO STATE, HAGEN NAMED SUBSECTION COACH OF THE YEAR

The Crookston High School finished off their regular season with great results in the Section 8A Subsection and Section speech meets.  Phyllis Hagen was named the Sub-Section 8A Coach of Year at the subsection tournament.

At the Sub-Section event, the following students advanced to the Section 8A Tournament:

  • Georgie French – Great Speeches – 2nd place
  • Linnea French – Humor – 3rd place
  • Emily Gillette – Original Oratory – 2nd place
  • Victoria Proulx – Storytelling – 2nd place
  • Isaac Wandrie – Original Oratory – 3rd place

Also recognized for their participation were:

  • Ben Brantner – Extemporaneous Speaking – 4th place
  • Zara Baig – Humor – 4th place
  • Jocelyn Midboe – Humor – 5th place
  • Emma Sherman – Informative – 5th place
  • Ed Luckow – Informative – 6th place
  • Samantha Rezac and Sophia Rezac – Humor – 6th place
  • Elizabeth Helgeson – Humor – 11th place

At the Section 8A Event, Victoria Proulx finished 3rd place in Storytelling and advances to the State Speech Tournament Friday and Saturday at Wayzata High School.

  • Ben Brantner – Extemporaneous Speaking – 7th place

The Speech team is coached by Hagen, Colleen MacRae, Assistant Coach; Gay Wick, Coach, and Muira MacRae, Manager.
