I made it!! I had to make a last-second change with UMC Women’s Basketball beating St. Cloud State and playing at Minnesota State Mankato instead. So I flew out of Minneapolis instead of Sioux Falls, which worked better. I canceled the Sioux Falls to Minneapolis portion and saved some money because of it so it was a win-win!
While in Washington D.C. the National Association of Broadcasters and all us radio and television executives received some great news from Minnesota Representative Tom Emmer told us he was starting a Broadcasters Caucus, where they will invite other politicians to learn about the broadcasting industry and our needs. They will also inform them of things that would hurt the broadcasters and our much-needed service to our local communities. It was great news and while we were there, we asked all our representatives to join the caucus. It was a great trip with great people and most importantly, it was a very productive trip for radio and television.
We are in the heart of the Section tourney’s and I have some updates, predictions and a lot more in the column. It was a quickly compiled column so understand if there are more mistakes than normal.

I will take my best shot at predicting the Section 8AA Girls Basketball tournament games – It could be one of the more exciting quarter-finals, semi-finals and championship games we have had in several years.
FIRST ROUND –
Crookston over EGF in a good game
Roseau over TRF by a good margin
Hawley will beat Warroad by a good margin
The DGF vs Park Rapids (5 vs 4) will be a great game, but I am thinking the Panthers will win and advance
Pelican Rapids over Barnesville and this could be a decent game
Fergus Falls over Wadena-Deer Creek by a good margin
Perham and Breckenridge is another close game – If either team is shooting well they have the advantage – but Breckenridge has a better post presence so I am going Breckenridge in a close one
Menahga will edge Frazee in a close one
I am expecting to see the following four teams in the final four – Fergus Falls, Roseau, Hawley in Crookston. We will see????

JOKES
A man walks into the toy store to get a Barbie doll for his daughter. So he asks the assistant, as you would, “How much is Barbie?”
“Well,” she says, “we have Barbie Goes to the Gym for $19.95, Barbie Goes to the Ball for $19.95, Barbie Goes Shopping for $19.95, Barbie Goes to the Beach for $19.95, Barbie Goes Nightclubbing for $19.95, and Divorced Barbie for $265.00.”
“Hey, hang on,” the guy asks, “why is Divorced Barbie $265.00 when all the others are only $19.95?”
“Yeah, well, it’s like this … Divorced Barbie comes with Ken’s house, Ken’s car, Ken’s boat, Ken’s furniture …”

A pastor’s wife was expecting a baby, so he stood before the congregation and asked for a raise.
After much discussion, they passed a rule that whenever the preacher’s family expanded, so would his paycheck.
After 6 children, this started to get expensive and the congregation decided to hold another meeting to discuss the preacher’s expanding salary.
A great deal of yelling and inner bickering ensued, as to how much the clergyman’s additional children were costing the church, and how much more it could potentially cost.
After listening to them for about an hour, the pastor rose from his chair and spoke, ‘Children are a gift from God, and we will take as many gifts as He gives us.
Silence fell on the congregation.
In the back pew, a little old lady struggled to stand, and finally said in her frail voice, ‘Rain is also a gift from God, but when we get too much of it, we wear rubbers.’
The entire congregation said, ‘Amen.’
