SPORTS FEEVER – November 21, 2019

We are officially in the Winter Sports season with every winter sports team having at least three practices under their belt.  It is the most wonderful time of year.

I won’t have much of a column next week because of Thanksgiving.  What I will do, if you want to email me what you are thankful for (serious or joking), we will post all of them anonymously.  So email me at chrisjfee@yahoo.com.

Leo and I have been busy putting the Section 8A Boys Hockey poll and preview, the Section 8AA Girls Basketball poll and preview together over the past week.  I am currently working on the Section 8AA Boys Basketball poll and preview and in three days, I have received 13 of the 18 teams info, which is a great response from the coaches.  I am just waiting on the final five coaches and I will release it as soon as those coaches get me the info.
We would like to thank all the coaches for submitting their information!!!

Enjoy another Feever column and I hope you have a HAPPY and safe Thanksgiving and can spend it with family and friends!

The UMC Fall sports season has officially come to an end with volleyball and football wrapping up their seasons on Saturday.

I wanted to pass along what the MDU Bowl (where U of Mary plays their football games) facilities manager told me after the game on Saturday.  The first thing he asked was if UMC is looking at moving down.  After talking about that for a while, he told me that he wanted to commend the Golden Eagle Football players and coaches.  He said they were excellent, well behaved, and were the best visiting team they had dealt with this year.  So that was nice to hear.

Now onto the bad news.  UMC Football had another winless season. In the previous five years, they only had two wins.  The last six years of records are below –
2019 – 0-11
2018 – 1-10
2017 – 0-11
2016 – 0-11
2015 – 1-10
2014 – 0-11

So, the UMC Golden Eagle seniors that played the last four years only had one win over four years.  I was on the sidelines for several of the UMC games this year and they were some of the best young men I have seen on the sidelines in the last 15 years.  They were a great group of young men that played hard all season long.  I heard that Josh Lanasa played the season on a torn ACL and there were several other players that were playing the last game with injuries.  I feel bad for the players because they gave it their all and stuck with the program for their entire career.  It tells me the guys are special people (or crazy!) to stick it out.  Good luck to the seniors!

JOKES –

Ear Infection

A 65-year-old man walked into a crowded waiting room and approached the desk.
The Receptionist said, ‘Yes sir, what are you seeing the Doctor for today?’
‘There’s something wrong with my dick’, he replied.
The receptionist became irritated and said, ‘You shouldn’t come into a crowded waiting room and say things like that. ‘
‘Why not, you asked me what was wrong and I told you,’ he said.
The Receptionist replied; ‘Now you’ve caused some embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something and discussed the problem further with the Doctor in private.’
The man replied, ‘You shouldn’t ask people questions in a roomful of strangers, if the answer could embarrass anyone. The man walked out, waited several minutes, and then re-entered.
The Receptionist smiled smugly and asked, ‘Yes??’
‘There’s something wrong with my ear,’ he stated.
The Receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice.. ‘And what is wrong with your ear, Sir?’
‘I can’t piss out of it,’ he replied.
The waiting room erupted in laughter…
