St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Celebrates Installation of Pastor Curt Peterson

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church celebrated the Installation of its new Pastor, Curt Peterson, on Sunday, September 8. Bishop Bill Tesch presided over the service. The welcome celebration also included a backpack blessing, a potluck, and the children’s first Sunday School Class for the year. The congregation voted to call Pastor Curt its new Pastor in May of this year.

This is Pastor Curt Peterson’s first placement as Pastor since finishing Seminary with his Master of Divinity degree from Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, this spring. “This is my first position as a called pastor but while I was in seminary I was in a program where I served as what’s called a Synod Authorized Minister at Glyndon Lutheran Church for a couple years and then I also had an extended internship at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND,” said Pastor Curt.

Pastor Curt, his wife Anna and their son Ezekiel (4), moved to Crookston this summer from Dilworth, MN, on the east side of the Fargo/Moorhead area. “We’d lived there about ten years, and we just moved to Crookston over the summer after I accepted this call.”

Pastor Curt and his family are getting settled and getting familiar with Crookston and its community. “We’ve really been liking Crookston. We’ve met a lot of great people and we have been invited to be part of all kinds of stuff,” said Pastor Curt.  “Our son starts Pre-Kindergarten at Washington School next week, and my wife is just about to start her new job, so we are excited to be here and settling into the community.”

When asked if he had any goals for his first year as the Pastor of St. Paul’s, Pastor Curt says his main goal is to get to know everyone and build relationships with the community that has made his family feel so welcome. “Everyone has been super welcoming and friendly. We know we are in the right place here,” says Pastor Curt.

Services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church are held each Sunday at 10:00 a.m., and Sunday School starts at 8:45 a.m.
