STAR WARS EXTRAVAGANZA PACKS CROOKSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Crookston Public Library held a Star Wars Extravaganza program for it’s Summer Library Experience! (SLE) on Wednesday and it packed the house.  More than 225 kids attended the event, which library director Chris Boike said was one of the largest events the library has hosted.

The Grand Forks Ludo Sport Light Saber Academy gave a demonstration on Light Saber combat with customized Light Sabers that cost up to $200.  Then the kids got to use those same Light Sabers to try out their combat skills.  According to Boike the academy also brought with a lot of prizes hoping to give each kid something to take home with them.  “It has surpassed what I think we thought it would do,” said Boike.  “We have the Grand Forks Ludo Sport Light Saber Academy here.  They got to see some pretty cool artifacts and the Light Saber demonstration.  They are all getting the opportunity to use the Light Sabers and do some combat that way having a lot of fun.  There are video games, some coloring, and a lot is going on.  And the academy brought some fantastic prizes, and their goal was to give something to every child.  So pretty much everybody here will leave with something today.  It’s a pretty cool way to kick off the SLE program.”

The SLE program’s next event is titled Lunar Odyssey, and it sure to be a fun opportunity to learn all about the moon.
