FEUILLERAT RUNS OVER GOODRIDGE-GRYGLA LEADING STEPHEN-ARGYLE TO 35-0 PLAYOFF WIN

Senior running back Dawson Feuillerat ran for three first-half touchdowns as the Stephen-Argyle Storm beat the Goodridge-Grygla Chargers in the Section 8 9-man tournament first-round played on the turf at East Grand Forks Senior High School.

Stephen-Argyle, along with mother nature, forced the Storm to relocate their home game to the artificial turf in East Grand Forks. That decision paid off handsomely for Stephen-Argyle’s rushing attack.

Goodridge-Grygla received the opening kick-off, but quarterback Riley Manderud’s handoff to running back Andrew Loken was fumbled during the exchange and recovered by the Storm at the Chargers 31-yard line. Stephen-Argyle failed to capitalize on the strong starting field position with a fumbled snap on fourth-and-1 from the Goodridge-Grygla 21-yard line.

Stephen-Argyle’s defense played outstanding all game and forced a three-and-out on their second defensive drive forcing a Chargers punt. The Storm started their next drive at their own 43-yard line. Two plays later, running back, Dawson Feuillerat carried the ball through a gang of Goodridge-Grygla defenders, springing free out of the pile and sprinting down the sideline 43 yards for the touchdown giving Stephen-Argyle a 6-0 lead with 5:17 to play in the first quarter after a failed two-point conversion.

The Storm’s next drive began on the Stephen-Argyle 41-yard line, and the four-time defending Section champions wasted no time extending their lead. Dawson Feuillerat scampered on a toss sweep to the far sideline and sprinted away from the defense running untouched for 59 yards for his second touchdown in as many carries giving the Storm a 12-0 lead after the missed extra point with 1:59 to play in the first quarter.

Stephen-Argyle added one more touchdown before halftime as Feuillerat carried a 48 yard run over the goal line extending the Storm lead to 20-0 after Feuillerat ran in the two-point conversion.

Stephen-Argyle’s defense continued their stellar first-half shutting down the Goodridge-Grygla offense to 134 yards in the first half while keeping the Chargers off the scoreboard, protecting the Storm’s 20-0 lead into halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Stephen-Argyle added to its lead early in the final quarter of play. The Storm was more than willing to run out the clock as much as add to their lead in the final 12 minutes of the game. With 9:14 to play in the game, running back Michael Jacobson carried a 5-yard run into the end zone with a Dawson Feuillerat two-point conversion adding to Stephen-Argyle’s 28-0 lead.

Michael Jacobson ran in one more touchdown from 7 yards out to cap off the scoring with the extra-point kicked by Dawson Feuillerat, closing out the 35-0 win.

Stephen-Argyle improves to 6-3 and will play the winner of Warren-Alvarado-Oslo and Lake of the Woods Saturday at 6:00 P.M. If Warren-Alvarado-Oslo wins tonight they would be the home team Saturday. Goodridge-Grygla concludes their season with a 4-5 record graduating just four seniors.
