STEPHEN-ARGYLE STORM VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS WARREN-ALVARADO-OSLO

The Stephen-Argyle Storm was able to outlast the Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Ponies as they pulled away towards the end of each set for a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) victory in a match played in Stephen. 

FIRST SET- 
The teams were tied at 1 and 2 before Stephen Argyle went on a 6-0 run behind the hitting of Grace Carlson (two kills), Megan Bolduc, Chloe Solvik, and an ace by Riley Mooney for an 8-2 lead.  Warren-Alvarado-Oslo battle back to get within three points several times, with the last time coming at 19-16.  The Storm ended the set on a 6-1 run while taking advantage of two straight Pony errors, a Bolduc ace, another Pony error, a Holly Jenson kill, and the set winner came on a Leah Johnson kill for a 25-17 victory. 

SECOND SET – 
Warren-Alvarado-Oslo started the second set with a kill from Lily Bayne.  After the Storm scored two points, Bayne had another kill, and after another Pony point, they led 4-2.  The teams were tied at 4, 7, and 8 before Stephen-Argyle’s Carlson served up an ace for a 9-8 lead.  The Storm kept a one to two-point lead until Warren-Alvarado-Oslo had two errors in a row, and a few points later, Stephen-Argyle led 18-13.  The Storm led 23-17 when Jensen and Johnson ended the set with back-to-back kills for a 25-17 victory and a 2-0 lead.  In the middle of the second set, Warren-Alvarado Oslo’s Elise Oberg dove for the ball and hit her head, and wasn’t able to return. 

THIRD SET – 
Stephen-Argyle couldn’t have asked for a better start with a 5-0 run, including a couple of kills from Mooney.  As the Ponies did all afternoon long, they battled back and got within an 8-7 deficit.  The Ponies had a couple of errors, which was followed by Storm kills from Jensen and Solvik for a 12-7 lead. The Ponies battled back again and trailed 13-11 when Johnson had three kills over five points for a 17-12 lead. The Storm continued to slowly build on the lead, and the Storm won the set 25-18, winning the match 3-0.
