STORM DRAIN CLOGGED WITH ICE CAUSES LEAK, DAMAGE INSIDE CITY HALL

Melting snow and ice build ups on the roof of City Hall caused a leak this morning.  City of Crookston Finance Director Angel Weasner tells us more. “One of our storm drains was frozen,” said Weasner.  “We had water that was pooling everywhere and as a casualty, it came through and we had leaking both upstairs and downstairs.”

Clean up work is already underway, but a final estimate as to the damage won’t be available for several days.  “We have no estimates at this point in time,” said Weasner.  “We did have the carpet cleaner in here to remove the excess water.  We have a contractor and electrician coming today or tomorrow to verify everything is safe but won’t have an estimate for a while yet.”

The Crookston Fire Department cleared up the blocked storm drain and said there were about 4 inches of water on the roof of City Hall.
